Details
Terrunyo means ‘terroir’ in Spanish and these wines are made from very specific blocks within Concha y Toro’s single estate vineyards. Only the best blocks are chosen for each Terrunyo varietal, from meticulously mapped vineyards. Ignacio Recabarren’s winemaking philosophy for this range is focused on the vineyard. Oak character is minimal; Ignacio prefers the purity of the fruit to shine through.
This is a luxurious Carmenère, elegant and complex with abundant damson and plum on the nose. Ripe red fruit and tobacco box on the palate. Mouth filling with a good structure and firm tannins.
A pioneer of the Chilean wine industry, Ignacio Recabarren has great international experience having participated in vintages in California (Tyland Vineyard, Mendocino County) and France (Château Maucaillou, Château Margaux, Château Lafite). He worked for more than two years in New Zealand for Morton Estate, Matua and Cloudy Bay, where he developed a keen interest in white wine production.
